Background

To realize the potential of technology advancements like the Internet of Things (IoT), engineers face tremendous pressure to design, develop and innovate products faster and more efficiently than ever before. Current legacy methods pose severe time and risk challenges and are prohibitively more expensive to all but those organizations with deep R&D pockets. The legacy engineering process is inefficient and involves building physical prototypes during a trial-and-error period that can span weeks and months. This process does not guarantee results, and   often triggers the prototyping process to start all over again.

OnScale was founded in late 2017 and spun out of engineering consulting firm Thornton Thomasetti, to help engineers overcome these obstacles and accelerate innovation across the engineering process. OnScale has created a revolutionary computer-aided engineering (CAE) platform paired with world-class, cloud-based high-performance computing (HPC). By arming engineers with the tools they need, OnScale is accelerating how quickly engineers are able to solve complex problems and bring new products to market across industries like IoT and sensors, biomedical, driverless cars and 5G.

OnScale hired Karbo Communications to launch the company from stealth and boost awareness to fuel sales for the company. OnScale selected Karbo Communications due to the team’s expertise in the engineering, HPC and B2B technology markets and its track record of successfully executing high-impact communications programs that boost sales, drive awareness, promote superiority and differentiation that depositions competitors.

Execution

Karbo Communications partnered with OnScale to develop a strategic communications strategy to put OnScale on the map and contribute to the achievement of the company’s business goals. Karbo Communications focused on differentiated messaging, aggressive pursuit of key media and analyst engagements, awards and events submissions, social programs, to establish OnScale as a disruptive force in the market.

To build on the momentum created by the launch, Karbo Communications drives PR efforts by pursuing opportunistic and trend-relevant press opportunities, strategically positioning and executing announcements, fostering analyst relations, driving an aggressive content program and supporting all social media channels.

Results

Karbo Communications launched OnScale and garnered coverage in publications such as Fortune, The Wall Street Journal, The Next Platform, Silicon Valley Business Journal, Digital Engineering, Microwave Journal and more, generating over 70M impressions.

As a result of the Silicon Valley Business Journal feature story and video for “The Pitch” section, OnScale CEO Ian Campbell was invited by the editorial staff to attend an exclusive Silicon Valley event with high profile VCs in attendance – an invaluable networking experience for startups seeking further funding opportunities.

Karbo Communications concurrently launched a proactive media and content program aligning to the key markets that OnScale serves. During the campaign’s first five months, Karbo Communications has secured 12 byline opportunities, one customer feature, in-person meetings at industry trade shows and several industry features and mentions in key publications.
