Hootsuite’s CEO explains why he gave employees a week off to combat burnout — and why it was a ‘win-win’ for the company

All 1,000 employees at the social-media-management company Hootsuite enjoyed a week of paid time off earlier this month. The company was effectively shut down.

CEO Tom Keiser said he knew his employees — like many Americans — were struggling with burnout. In fact, in a series of focus groups months ago, they told him as much.
